Online therapy for adults in Kentucky who’ve spent their lives taking care of others and want to begin taking care of and embracing themselves.
Hey, I’m Carolyn.
I am a licensed psychologist who helps adults navigating trauma, anxiety, and LGBTQ+ or identity concerns, explore, understand, and ultimately embrace their true authentic selves.
Expel fear. Embrace your authentic self.
You take care of everyone else in your life. Your friends and family view you as strong, confident, and happy. Even though everyone views you as their “rock,” you feel anything but sturdy.
When I first meet with my clients they often feel like no one knows the real them. They don’t let anyone see their sadness, anger, frustration, or struggles. Everyone around them thinks they are doing fine (maybe even great!) even though they feel like they are barely holding it together.
They don’t want to rock the boat, so they hold back their thoughts, feelings, and needs for the comfort of everyone else. They will grin and bear just about anything to avoid a conflict.
They feel alone. They are always there when a friend or family member is in pain, but they don’t know how to let someone in to help take care of them. They hold their tears and panic back until they are alone in their car.
Their challenges being open and vulnerable get in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of friend, partner, or family member they want to be. They feel like they are failing at building meaningful friendships and relationships. And their confidence in who they are is tanking.
Before they came to see me, my clients were scared about the idea of therapy. Looking a stranger right in the eye and sharing their deep down truth seemed absolutely impossible. And they were pretty sure that no one would ever really know them. Or worse yet, they were certain if someone ever did get a glimpse of their true self they would leave. The fear, distrust, and loneliness was all-consuming.
Like my clients, you deserve to express your beliefs and needs without worrying about disappointing your friends and family.
Taking care of yourself is not out of your reach.
If you want to embrace your authentic self and let the people who matter most to you do the same, I’d love to help you get there.
Call or email me now. You don’t have to do everything on your own. I can help.
